Volunteer Opportunities

 

Progressive Global Commons is a non-profit Member collective that, as a Social Media & Resource Portal, acts as an Engine of Solidarity.

 

The Commons depends on active Members contributing to the strength of the Community with posts to the Commons Net along with Blogs, Articles, Photos, Videos, Links, Content Suggestions and as Commons Volunteers.

 

The foundation content flowing from Members is supplemented by Commons activists 24 hours a day. The process of providing meaningful content from Global sources, planing, original reporting, research, expanding resources and growing membership while expanding services and communications is the responsibility of Volunteers, Interns and Commons Staff.


The participation will be Online (Virtual) or in conjunction with a Commons facility or affiliate office. The Commons headquarters is in Olympia, WA, with available affiliate offices in Seatle WA, Madison WI, New York NY, and London England.

The Center for Progressive Leadership (CPL) is a national civic training institute that develops diverse leaders who can effectively advance progressive political and policy change. The Center for Progressive Leadership has trained over 6,000 leaders through intensive, nonpartisan leadership programs primarily in our state offices (currently Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin).

 

CPL was founded by a broad and diverse group of progressive leaders from around the country who saw crucial gaps in training, mentorship, coaching, and support for progressive campaign, organization, community, policy and political leaders.

Internship Program

 

Progressive Global Commons offers Online (Virtual) and in person unpaid internships.  These programs can be inconjunction with College programs or independent.

 

 

About the Internship


Certificate program Interns are required to complete 312 hours (or as required by a Interns College program) of work. The schedule for completion of these hours is flexible. Our programs are full or part time and cycle throughout the year. For non-certificate programs the time period and hours are flexable and are determined at the time of your individual program design.

You will gain unique experience that will build your life skills, feed your progressive passion and show great on your resume.  Your program will be balanced between reaching specific project goals, a leaning agenda and participation in the collective community.

 

Our Intern Programs are individually designed to merge with your interests, build on previous experience and expand your horizons while making real and tangible additions to the strength of the Commons.

Progressive Training

Wellstone Action (www.wellstone.org) is a national center for training and leadership development for the progressive movement. Wellstone Action’s mission is to honor the legacy of Paul and Sheila Wellstone by continuing their work through training, educating, mobilizing and organizing a vast network of progressive individuals and organizations.

Founded in 1973 the Midwest Academy (www.midwestacademy.com) is a national training institute committed to advancing the struggle for social, economic, and racial justice. From local neighborhood groups to statewide and national organizations, Midwest Academy has trained over twenty-five thousand grassroots activists from hundreds of orginzations and coalitions. Midwest Academy teaches an organizing philosophy, methods and skills that enable ordinary people to activily participate in the democratic process.

 

Green Corps' (www.greencorps.org) mission is to teach the next generation of environmental leaders the strategies and skills they'll need to win tomorrow's environmental battles while providing critical field support for today's pressing problems.

 

Campus Progress (www.campusprogress.org), a project of the Center for American Progress,works to strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses nationwide; counter the growing influence of right-wing groups on campus; and empower new generations of progressive leaders.

 

Choice USA (www.choiceusa.org)mobilizes and provides ongoing support to the diverse, upcoming generation of leaders who promote and protect reproductive choice both now and in the future.

 

PolitiCorps Summer Institute (www.PolitiCorps.org) is a 10-week boot camp consisting of hands-on campaign skills training, innovative public policy intensives, and real-world applications of leadership skills and campaign savvy. PolitiCorps strives to create the next generation of progressive leaders. The Summer Institute is based in Portland, Oregon.

Democracy for America, the people powered PAC, has over one million members nationwide.  We provide campaign training, organizing resources, and media exposure so our members have the power to support progressive issues and candidates up and down the ballot.
